This is a sign I’ve seen for years during the day and always thought it would be pretty at night, but I never had a chance to see it. The DC in “DC Jets” is Douglas Corporation, an old and famous airplane company. They are best remembered for the DC3 made during the 1930s. By the time I first saw this sign, Douglas had long since been bought by McDonnell and the name changed to McDonnell Douglas, and the planes called MD this or that, but the sign was cool, so they left it in place. A few years ago McDonnell Douglas was bought up by Boeing, who killed off the Douglas name and even calling the planes MD this or that. I figured that Boeing would get rid of the DC Jets sign too, but on our way home from Long Beach, we passed right by the sign and it’s still there! Now I’ve seen the pretty sign (after about 20 years) and have a picture of it.
